By the time Theo had come back to her room, after ordering dinner, she had found some clean pajamas and was sitting on the edge of her bed waiting for him to come into babysit her while she showered. She felt a bit ridiculous, but she understood the need for such precautions. She had a concussion, after all, and had passed out in the hotel lobby earlier that morning. That all felt like a lifetime ago now though.

“You ready for your shower?” he asked.

“I am,” she said, holding up her clean clothes. “I’m just excited to get out of this bathing suit and coverup. It’s very uncomfortable to try to sleep in. Although, I have no issues sleeping on the beach with a suit full of sand to boot,” she teased.

He chuckled, “Yeah, I have a feeling that has more to do with the white noise of the waves and less to do with a bathing suit full of wet sand.”

“I won’t be too long tonight. I’m going to shower and not take another bath. I feel like that might be best until I get the all-clear from the doctor.” She had even left her earbuds on her nightstand along with her phone. She wasn’t allowed to look at her phone screen for very long. The doctor told her that all electronics, including television, had to be reduced in order for her to get better.

“Do you think that watching a movie is allowed?” she asked.

“I found a short one. It’s under two hours, so I’m sure that will be okay,” Theo admitted.

“You found a movie that is less than two hours? What are we watching exactly?” she asked.

“It’s a cartoon about chickens,” he said.

“A cartoon about chickens?” she questioned. “Really?”

“Hey, it’s all that I could find on television here. It’s not like in the states where we can watch anything that we want. They have limited offerings and at least you get some screen time.”

“True,” she agreed. “I just never thought that I’d be watching a cartoon about chickens in the Bahamas. I’m sorry that you have to give up your exciting trip to babysit me, Theo,” she said.

“You need to stop apologizing, honey,” he said. “I’d give up just about anything to hang out with you. Now, go take your shower,” he ordered. “Our food will be here soon.”

“Thank you, Theo,” she said. Poppy stood from the edge of the bed and crossed the bedroom to stand in front of him. She went up on her tiptoes and gently let her lips brush over his. She wasn’t sure if he’d be okay with the gesture, but she had spent most of the afternoon dozing in and out, dreaming of what it would be like to kiss Theo. If she was being honest, she dreamed of doing a lot more than just kissing him, but they would hopefully get to that once she was medically cleared by the doctor. Maybe she was rushing things, but it didn’t feel that way when she was with Theo.
